Summer Youth Theatre

Tupelo Community Theatre is excited to announce auditions for our Summer Youth Production of Seussical JR.! This bright, whimsical musical adventure is full of heart, humor, and imagination. Set in the world of Dr. Seuss, Seussical JR. follows Horton the Elephant as he protects the tiny Whos of Whoville, reminding us that “a person’s a person, no matter how small.” Featuring beloved characters such as the Cat in the Hat, JoJo, Gertrude McFuzz, and Mayzie La Bird, this joyful show celebrates friendship, loyalty, and finding your voice.

Casting:

This production is open to rising 4th graders through graduating seniors. Auditions will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 11:00 AM and Sunday, April 19, at 2:00 PM at the TCT Off Broadway location, 213 E. Franklin Street. Auditions will include script reading and individual singing, and no advance preparation is required.

Participants must have zero absences during the week of performances and the week immediately prior, as full attendance is essential during this time. Performances will take place June 18–20. TCT’s Primetime Players announce auditions for their production of THE STAR SPANGLED GIRL by Neil Simon. This will be a staged reading in the format of a radio play. This is for our senior actors, so you young bucks under 40, this show is not for you!!

  • Andy: A liberal publisher of the magazine Fallout.
  • Norman: Andy’s partner, who is obsessed with Sophie.
  • Sophie Rauschmeyer: A former Olympic swimmer and a Southern girl who moves in next door.
The STAR-SPANGLED GIRL is a 1966 comedy play about a love triangle between two liberal magazine publishers and a Southern former Olympic swimmer who moves in next door. The plot revolves around the men’s struggle to keep their political magazine afloat, Norman’s unrequited love for the new neighbor Sophie, and the complications that arise when Sophie falls for Andy, threatening the magazine and their friendship. GREASE brings the fun-loving senior class of Rydell High to life, featuring the slick “Burger Palace Boys,” the stylish “Pink Ladies,” and a story centered on Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski as they navigate young love in the 1950s. This high-energy musical includes classic songs such as “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin’,” and “It’s Raining on Prom Night,” inspired by the sounds of Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, and early rock and roll.
